What to Feed Your Lab

When you pick up your new puppy, you will be given a small supply of the food that they've been eating since they were weaned. We have done extensive research on our own, and we are proponents of feeding dogs soy-free, grain-free, and gluten-free dog food. We recommend the Victor brand, and we specifically feed our adult dogs the "Hero Canine" variety. The puppies are fed Victor "Active Dog and Puppy- All Life Stages". We also recommend adding salmon oil to their daily diet, and their coat will be supple and shiny!

When to Visit the Vet

Puppies require regular veterinarian visits to maintain their good health. Along with feeding them high quality food, please be sure to stay on track with their core vaccinations. Before they leave our home, their dewclaws have been removed, and they will have received their first shots (at about 6 weeks of age). Their next round of shots will due at 12- and 16- weeks of age, and will also need a rabies vaccination. Please consult with your chosen vet to keep your puppy at optimal health!

Also of Note

Puppies need regular exercise! While it's a great idea to get your new puppy started on leash training, please avoid doggy parks and places where numerous pets visit often, as your puppy is not yet immunized from all the viruses that can lurk in those areas. Play with your puppy at home, work on those leash commands, roll balled up socks or small tennis balls in order to learn fetching, and play tug of war with soft toys. While in our care, your puppy was played with everyday! Keeping them engaged will also lessen their boredom and the possibility of chewing and digging disasters!
